About Keith Manlove

Keith Manlove has spent most of his musical life in Austin, Texas and has been involved with new music there for almost 10 years. He is a composer, performer, improviser, electronic musician, and video and installation artist, and he was a founding member and developer of the Austin New Music Co-op, which has created opportunities for performance, education, and composition of adventurous sound since 2002. With the Co-op, he performed in and produced numerous concerts including a three-day festival of the music of “The New York School” composers.

Drawing from a wide range of musical experiences, the music of Keith Manlove brings together the visceral, real quality of improvisation with ideas and currents of contemporary music and philosophy. More recent projects include pieces for solo and small ensembles that include realtime generation of video scores with computer/performer interaction to create a play between the elements of improvisation and large-scale formal constraints. These sounds are translated into real-time video to thicken the interaction.

Keith has worked with the ThomFariCraw Loft Series, AMODA, Olivia Block, Mary Oliver, Pauline Oliveros, Jeph Jerman, Holland Hopson, Rick Reid, Brent Fariss, Bill Thompson, Travis Weller, Josh Ronsen, and many others.
